SLII inducts distinguished members to Insurance Hall of Fame

At the annual Sri Lanka International Insurance Congress held on 15 October at the Cinnamon Grand, Dr. Wickrama Weerasooriya, Indrani Sugathadasa and Nimmi De A Guneratne were inducted to the Insurance Hall of Fame by the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, in appreciation of the yeoman services rendered by them to the insurance industry and the profession in Sri Lanka.  Chartered Insurance Institute UK CEO Sian Fisher graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and presented commemorative plaques to the three inductees in recognition of the honour.

The inductees have served the Industry in distinctively diverse but equally important and significant areas:

• Dr. Wickrama Weerasooriya, Sri Lanka’s first insurance ombudsman, a distinguished Academic, Lawyer, Diplomat, and renowned Banking specialist.
• Indrani Sugathadasa, former Chairperson of the IBSL, the forerunner to the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka,held the position for a record period of 8 years.
• Nimmi De A Guneratne, Managing Director of the Insurance Sector of the Aitken Spence Group and former President of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute and Lecturer in Insurance Law.

The SLII Council 2018/19 consists of President Asoka Sirisena, Vice President Lasitha Wimalaratne, Secretary Sithumina Jayasundara, Asst. Secretary Mahendra Willegoda, Treasurer Hashra Weerawardena, and Council Members Prasanna Welagedara, Anushka Jayasinghe, Sameera Dharmasena, Kaumalee Ameradivakara, Chaminda Sumanathunge, and Vipul De Silva.
