Lanka Social Ventures to hold second international conference on 28-29 January

Lanka Social Ventures, with its mission to promote and support entrepreneurship and innovation for social change and environmental sustainability, will hold its second international conference on ‘Social Enterprises and Social Finances’ in Colombo on 28 and 29 January.

The theme of the conference is ‘Think Social, Produce Social, Buy Social’.

The keynote address will be delivered by Governor Central Bank Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy at the two-day conference to be held at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The conference will be addressed by Social Traders Australia CEO David Brookers, Foundation of Goodness Founder Kushil Gunasekara, Lanka Impact Investing Network Chairman Chandula Abeywickrema, Tristan Ace (British Council), Small Agriculture Partnership Project Director Dr. Yasantha Maputana, World Fair Trade Organisation CEO Erinch Sahan and Social Enterprise Mark CIC UK MD Lucy Findlay. Lanka Social Ventures which has played a key role social entrepreneurship programs is backed by the Commerce and Industrial Ministry, the British Council, the WUSC (World University Service of Canada), the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme (SAPP) and the Good Market.

Among the topics to be taken up for discussion will be:

  • Building a social enterprise ecosystem and helping social enterprises and SMEs for scaling up and creating social impact.
  • Exploring new markets for social goods and services at local and global level.
  • Harnessing public, private and philanthropic investment to create social impact.
  • Experience sharing of successful social enterprises at local and global level.

The conference will provide an ideal opportunity for social entrepreneurs, persons involved in small medium enterprises, aspiring entrepreneur, policy makers, development practitioners, business service providers, and researchers.
