Kanishka appointed as an adviser to FASL

Kanishka Weeramunda was recently appointed as an adviser to the Fintech Association of Sri Lanka (FASL). Holding more than 18 years of high level experience in the ICT industry, Weeramunda is the Founder/CEO of PayMedia Ltd., a fintech company from Sri Lanka.

He is also a Co-Founder of DirectPay Ltd., Park and Pay Ltd., and SquareHub Ltd. 

Weeramunda invested in five active start-ups and founded Square Hub, which accommodates these start-ups.

He is an alumnus of MIT Global Start-up Labs and also a scholar of Global Connect Program hosted by Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology and the start-up exchange program hosted by the Infocom Investments in Singapore. 

He is a former visiting lecturer of University Moratuwa, University of Middlesex UK, Post Graduate Institute of Management in Dubai and Qatar and The American University of Emirates in Dubai.

Weeramunda has represented Sri Lanka in many international start-up conferences in Europe, Asia, and in the Asia Pacific regions.

He contributes towards building the ICT industry of the Sri Lanka by being a co-founder of Sri Lanka’s first-ever tech start-up conference, DisruptAsia. He is also a community leader of Start-up Weekend Sri Lanka, and the winner of Seedstarts Colombo in 2018.

Weeramunda received Gold award for Fintech at the 18th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APITCA) Awards 2018, which was held in Guangzhou, China.

FASL is a MoU-signed partner of the Singapore Fintech Association, Fintech Association of the Philippines, and Fintech Association of Hong Kong.

FASL was a Supporter Institution for the Finners City Summit 2018 at Shanghai Marriott and Chain Plus: Asia-Pacific Blockchain New Finance Summit 2019 at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore. 

FASL was a Regional Co-Organiser of the Asia Smart App Awards Summit 2019 at Cyberport, Hong Kong, and partnered a seminar on ‘Real Estate Tokenisation – Challenges and Opportunities in Hong Kong’, which was hosted by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) at its Asian Institute of International Financial Law (AIIFL).

FASL will be a partner institution for the upcoming, ‘Block Plus Summit – Future of Fintech’ in Vietnam, India Fintech Forum’s ‘India Fintech Award - IFTA 2019’ in Mumbai, and ‘Fintech Galaxy Awards’ in Dubai.
