HNB Assurance appoints new CEO

HNB Assurance Plc has announced the appointment of Prasantha Fernando as the new CEO with effect from 20 July succeeding Deepthi Lokuarachchi who steps down as Managing Director/CEO same day upon reaching his 55th birthday.

He will be CEO of the subsidiary HNB General Insurance Ltd., as well. 

Fernando is a career insurance professional who has been with the group since 2012 and had functioned as General Manager Life Assurance prior to being promoted as Chief Operating Officer in 2015.

He counts over 26 years of industry experience having begun his insurance career at CTC Eagle Insurance Ltd., and was the Assistant General Manager, Life Operations at Aviva NDB Insurance PLC prior to joining HNB Assurance PLC. 

Fernando holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colombo and is also an associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK and a Chartered Insurer. He has also served as a founder council member of the Association of Chartered Insurance Professionals, and is a past Chairman of the Life Insurance Forum of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka.
