Bank of Ceylon opens landmark 80th anniversary commemoration branch in Gampaha

The Bank of Ceylon reached another milestone relocating the Gampaha branch at its new premises as the 80th anniversary commemoration branch creating a greater convenience to bank’s customers. 

Chief Guest Speaker Deshabandu Karu Jayasuriya and the Mayor of Gampaha Municipal Council Eranga Senanayake were also present. Bank of Ceylon Chairman President’s Counsel Ronald C. Perera and Non-Executive Director Kumar Mayadunne together with Acting General Manager/CEO Russel Fonseka formally inaugurated the branch.

The bank’s Deputy General Manager – Sales and Channel Management C. Amarasinghe, members of the corporate and executive management, Acting AGM Western Province North Indrani Keerthirathne, Gampaha Super Grade Branch Manager Koshila Jayasooriya and staff members, retired staff of the bank, representatives of the Gampaha business community and well-wishers were also among the distinguished guests who joined the ceremony.

The new branch located at No. 170, Colombo Road, Gampaha is also connected to the rest of 634 branches through its centralised network enabling real time transaction processing whilst facilitating a wide array of unmatchable banking services to its customers such as current and local or foreign currency savings/fixed deposit accounts, children’s and senior citizens’ savings accounts and saving plans, housing and personal loans, special loan schemes such as Enterprise Sri Lanka loans, education loans, leasing, pawning, micro/SME financing facilities and international money transfer/remittances services.

This landmark branch is also powered by new technologies and digitalised channels introduced by the bank to match the evolving lifestyles of Sri Lankans including 24x7 access to banking through web enabled phone banking, online banking, mobile banking apps, internationally-accepted credit and debit cards, call centre and 24-hour self-serving ‘Smart Zone’ that includes ATMs, a CDM and a CRM offering greater comfort and channel experience to customers. 

Incorporating the latest digital technologies, the bank is further committed to providing its customers a digital banking experience through B App and Smart Pass Book App with an advanced and highly secured platform. Smart FD, Apply Online for loan and savings accounts are also among the digital banking services available to customers. 

The bank extending its green banking practices, other than promoting digital banking to minimise its carbon foot print, built the Gampaha Super Grade Branch also under the ‘Green Banking Concept’ with the branch connected to the national grid. To minimise the use of electricity consumption of the branch, LED bulbs with specially manufactured diffuser system and environmentally certified other fixtures and fittings were used. Solar panels also fixed to save energy.
