‘The Night of Ideas’ in Colombo

The French Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Maldives and the Alliance française de Kotte announce the second edition of ‘The Night of Ideas’ (in French: Nuit des Idées) in Colombo. Under the theme of ‘The Tropical Forest’, this event will take place from 5 p.m. on Thursday, 30 January at the BCIS.  

Launched in 2016 at the initiative of the French government, ‘The Night of Ideas’ brings together leading international thinkers, scientists and artists across the five continents to ponder on world major challenges, during one night.

In partnership with the BCIS, they will organise an event in two parts:

• A screening of the documentary ‘Once Upon a Forest’ by Luc Jacquet
• A talk between specialists around the theme of tropical forest
• With: 
• Tharuka Dissanaike, UNDP 
• N. Ayyappan – Researcher, Institut Français de Pondichery 
• Ananda Mallawatantri – Country Representative, International Union for Conservation of Nature – IUCN 
• Hemantha Withanage – Executive Director, Centre for Environmental Justice
