Hundreds of people walked out of work on 27 September to join the gathering at Orion City organised by the Rhino Group to educate and inspire the public regarding individual action on climate change.

This event was organised in support of the ‘Global Climate Strike’ which took place across 150 countries.

The silent strike was organised to encourage the exploration of sustainable ways of living that have a most positive impact on the Earth. As a widely respected socially responsible organisation, the Rhino Group launched its sustainable development journey in August 2019. The group has committed itself to mitigating climate change impact through projects designed to reduce carbon footprints, recycle waste at schools, protect the welfare of sea creatures under threat and facilitate reforestation. Commenting on the initiative, Rhino Group Managing Director E.J. Gnanam said: “The unexpected changes around us in weather patterns I believe are showing us that something is wrong in the environment and that we have to act now. Join our call to reduce pollution in the environment so that we leave a cleaner home for the next generation.”

The individuals who gathered displayed signs showing the many ways to prevent global warming from worsening.

Global warming is likely to be the greatest threat of the century. Fossil fuels, deforestation, overconsumption and improper waste disposal are some of the factors that lead to global warming and impact biodiversity, the oceans, humans and the weather. But the good news is that there are ways to reduce global warming. Renewable energy, water efficiency, sustainable transportation, responsible consumption and recycling are just some of the ways through which climate change can be reversed. Plans to protect the earth are in fact plans to protect our children and their future.
