Friend of the Earth and CCPB partner to boost sustainable agriculture certification

The World Sustainability Organization - the NGO that has launched and developed Friend of the Earth project - has entered in a strong partnership with CCPB to implement and certify sustainable agricultural practices in Italy and around the world.

CCPB, based in Bologna, Northern Italy, is a certification body for agrifood and non-food products obtained by means of organic or eco-friendly production.

Among the non-food products certified by CCPB are natural and organic cosmetics and ecological detergents and textiles.

CCPB also carries out inspections and audit accredited by Accredia, the Italian National Accreditation Body designated by the Italian government, according to ISO 17020 standard.

CCPB has certified and inspects about 13.000 companies around the world, including established industrial groups, large distribution companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and emerging companies, the majority of which operate in the organic sector.

Friend of the Earth Founder and Director Paolo Bray commented: “This new partnership will contribute considerably to spread the culture of sustainability among food and non-food companies. Consumers are requesting ways to identify products which are good to the environment and workers. Friend of the Earth label can surely help identify them.”

CCPB CEO Fabrizio Piva explains: “Market analysis confirms that certification improves a product’s quality. Consumers are increasingly aware and appreciate companies’ engagement to a cleaner and more responsible production.”
