Celebrating 10 years of music and entertainment, the De Lanerolle Brothers’, Rohan and Ishan announced plans to host 20 concerts in 2019 at a press conference yesterday.

Marking the 10 year anniversary for performing music at local and global venues, the De Lanerolle Brothers’ together with Leo Burnett have planned to hold a collective of 20 concerts, with 10 concerts in Sri Lanka and 10 concerts overseas within the year.

“The 20 concerts we’re holding for 2019 are going to be different from each other. The De Lanerolle Brothers’ don’t hold concerts, we hold productions. This year, we’re hoping to host a Gospel show, a Sinhala and Tamil show, a pop show, a Christmas show, the BMICH concert with our percussion band and even a dance show, among many others,” Rohan De Lanerolle said.

The Brothers are holding their first show for the year at St. Thomas’ College, with the hopes of giving back to their alma-mater. This show will be held on the 28 January, with the 1992 and 1999 batches of the school coming together to organise with the goal of helping with the funds for the re-doing of the library project.

“There will also be a show with opera stars on 1 July this year with Rohan De Silva and two soprano singers from Slovenia and UK,” Rohan said further confirming the agenda set for this year.

Talking about how it all began for the Brothers’, Ishan filled-in with how his brother one day heard him harmonise to a music CD and they ended up singing and performing together. The junior De Lanerolle also stated how both of their voices have evolved immensely the past decade and that they are grateful for all the wonderful experiences they have had the opportunity of having.

“We thank our stakeholders and our patronage for being with us throughout this journey. We enjoy performing in Sri Lanka and overseas. Even at times when we were the only people of colour at an event overseas, we have had so much appreciation for our efforts and we’re always thankful,” Ishan De Lanerolle added.

Leo Burnett Former Managing Director Ranil De Silva, The De Lanerolle Brothers’ Music Director Shobi Perera, Leo Burnett CEO Arosha Perera, The De Lanerolle Brothers’ Accompanist Neranjan De Silva, Arch Deacon of Colombo Ven. Perry Brohier and many other stakeholders were also present at the press conference held at Hilton Colombo yesterday.
