Savoy Premier debuts in Rajagiriya with touching first screening for children from homes

Savoy Premier Rajagiriya opened its doors to the public on 20 December with a touching gesture that unveiled the magic of 3D cinema to children from institutionalised homes in the locality. 

In what was an emotional first screening at the cinema the Savoy team managed to organise an exclusive screening for kids where children from homes around the area were invited to enjoy a day out during their holidays. The highlight of the day was that this was the very first instance where the children experienced 3D cinema in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

 Chairman of Ben Holdings, which is the parent company of Savoy Cinemas, Alex Lovell commenting on the opening of Savoy Premier Rajagiriya said, “We are proud to present a brand new state-of the-art cinema closer to movie fans in suburban areas as they don’t have to come all the way to Colombo to enjoy a great movie. And it was a great pleasure for the senior management and staff to host these children as we opened our doors first to them. Going forward the Savoy Cinemas will commit to more initiatives such as this, to facilitate children from similar backgrounds to enjoy appropriate movies during school holidays.”  Savoy Cinemas CEO Geevaka Pallegama said, “It was thrilling for us to see how the young audience was immersed into a fascinating new world in Disney’s ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ movie. This gesture is certainly something Savoy intends to carry forward in our launches and premiers. We are also excited to be in Rajagirya which is now a self-contained city in terms of the retail and restaurant space. Now with the Savoy experience we have taken Rajagiriya to new heights bringing entertainment closer to home.”

With over 10 3D cinemas across the country, Savoy Premier Rajagiriya, becomes the latest addition to the Savoy Cinemas chain bringing state of the art technology and entertainment for movie fans in sub-urban Colombo. Savoy Cinemas is a member of the Ben Holdings Group of Companies which is also the holding company of EAP Broadcasting and Swarnamahal Jewellers.
