The year-end concert of the Asian International Montessori School in Battaramulla was held recently at the Bishops College Auditorium on the theme ‘Global Rhythm’. Nearly 200 students performed meticulously choreographed dance and song items to a packed full house.

The audience was taken on a journey around the world depicting the cultural heritage of different countries and continents set against beautiful props and backdrops handcrafted by the teachers themselves.

From tribal dances in Africa to the Hill Billy dances of North America, Dances of the Pharaoh to Parasol Dances of Japan and beautifully executed traditional Greek dances, to a very colourful traditional Russian dance. The evening culminated with our own Sri Lanka Baila ‘Remix Karala’ which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Special mention should be made of the beautiful costumes that brought to life the dance items while transporting the audience to their original settings.

The large gathering of parents, grandparents and well-wishers were kept spell bound as toddlers to tiny tots exhibited their in-born talents skillfully nurtured by a group of equally talented and committed teachers.

Hats off to the AIS Montessori School for staging a splendid performance and bringing down the curtain on yet another successful year.
