‘Divine Dance of Energy’ – an amalgamation of Bharatha Natyam and Yoga by Shrisha artistes Donisha Myleandran (yoga), Rathiksha Nishanthan (Bharatha Natyam) and Mathursha Ravindran (Sutradhar) – will be presented today, 7 June, at 6 p.m. at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre auditorium located at 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.

The event is being presented by Government of India scholarship holders from Sri Lanka as a curtain raiser to the fifth International Day of Yoga on Friday which falls on 21 June.

Yoga means to unite body, mind and soul. Bharatha Natyam, the ancient Indian art form is one of the most beautiful way of expressing the human longing for union with the Divine. As an art form, Bharatha Natyam demands conscious understanding of body, mind and emotions. Bharatha Natyam and Yoga are the two ways to help us understand the manifestation of the Divine in the human form. Both these wonderful art forms are products of Sanathana Dharma, which is the bedrock of Indian culture.

Rathiksha Nishanthan graduated from Kalakshetra Chennai availing ICCR Scholarship of Govt. of India in Dance. She is the Director of Eshwaraalaya School of Bharatha Natyam Colombo. Donisha Myleandran is an ITec scholarship holder of Govt. of India in Yoga and the Director of Rhythmic Yogalayaa Yoga studio, Wattala. Mathursha Ravindran is a student of Law. Shrisha is coordinated and presented by all three of the above artistes. All are cordially invited with free entry and no registration required.
