Multiplexes are more than just blockbusters and mainstream releases. Scope Cinema, Sri Lanka’s first and largest 6-screen multiplex, proves this point and more by offering a world-class cinematic experience for local cinema-goers. Equipped with the world’s latest cutting-edge technology and avant-garde amenities, the multiplex has basked in immense acclaim from the public since its opening at Colombo City Centre.

A couple of weeks into the concept had proven to be an immense success, said Scope Cinema Ltd. CEO/Managing Director Thushan Meemanage. “You have speakers everywhere except on the floor. Therefore, when you’re watching the movie, you feel like you’re in [the scene] with the characters. We also offer stadium-type seating. Hence, even if a short person is seated behind a tall person, he/she will be able to view the film without any disturbances,” he commented. Located on third floor of the Colombo City Centre Mall, Scope Cinema offers a revolutionary screening of approximately 30 shows per day, providing every movie-lover the opportunity to catch their favourite blockbuster releases while enjoying the wide array of food and beverage options on offer. Hosting the standout 220-seat Dolby Atmos Theatre and the exclusive VIP theatre with 24 seats, Scope Cinema boasts an impressive 750 seats across all 6 screens, which exude an amphitheatre effect bound to thrill regular moviegoers and cinephiles alike.

Each seat is also ergonomically designed to provide the highest comfort and ease possible. Plus, these modern facilities are fully equipped with unique accommodations for disabled individuals, which in turn signifies Scope Cinema’s aim to offer an unparalleled cinematic experience for everybody.

The most striking aspect of Scope Cinema, however, is its inclusion of the innovative Dolby Atmos Sound and 4K projection. Dolby Atmos, in particular, renders everything from dialogue in quiet scenes to whirlwind action with stunning clarity, richness, and depth, creating a powerful audio atmosphere that delivers the full impact of entertainment. Further, the 4K laser projectors produce devastatingly gorgeous visuals, which are sharper and more vivid than that of any other cinema in Sri Lanka.

A highly anticipated addition to the capital’s fast-developing skyline, Colombo City Centre is Sri Lanka’s first BOI-approved mixed development project. The $180 million joint venture between local retail giant Abans and Singapore-based Next Story Group is one of Sri Lanka’s largest foreign direct investments in recent times, and rises 47-storeys above the heart of the city. Honoured as the ‘Most Promising Mixed Use Development’ by CMO Asia, ‘Asia’s Greatest Brand’ by AsiaOne Magazine and ‘Upcoming Mall of the Year’ among several other accolades by the Golden Globe Tigers, Colombo City Centre is a multi-award-winning skyscraper dedicated towards transforming Sri Lanka’s capital into a global metropolis with the first integrated lifestyle complex of its kind. This includes Sri Lanka’s first international mall with high-end brands, a 700-seat food court and 6-screen multiplex cinema, the upscale NEXT Hotel with 164 keys, and 192 luxurious residential units designed to offer unmatched views of the city, Beira Lake, and Indian Ocean.
