Bharatnatyam exponent and Yoga specialist to perform at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre on 27 Feb.

Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo will be presenting  Ishwarya Chaitanya, Bharathanatyam danseuse  from India on 27 February 2019 at 6.00pm at SVCC auditorium located at 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07.

Ishwarya Chaitanya completed her Arangetram under Guru Sri Jai Govinda, of Vancouver, Canada.  Born and raised in Vancouver, Ishwarya’s passion for dance brought her to Karnataka Kalashree Guru B. Bhanumati of Bangalore, under whom she has been training for the past nine years. 

After completing her MFA in dance from Sastra University, under the guidance of the legendary Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Ishwarya became a member of Guru Bhanumati’s internationally renowned troupe, Bharatanjali and has performed all over India in many major festivals and events. She is undergoing training in nattuvangam from Guru Sheela Chandrasekhar and Vidwan Sri N. Narayanaswamy and is also a student of carnatic vocal, under Guru Smt. LalgudiRajalakshmi. 

Ishwarya is also a trained Yoga teacher and has completed the Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-Vyasa) University in Bangalore. She also has experience working with children both in India and North America, having worked as Yoga instructor and camp coordinator for S-Vyasa and Arysha Vidya Gurukulam, Saylorsburg (USA), in community centres and elementary schools in British Columbia, Canada.
