LAUGFS Petroleum bags Gold at SLITAD People Development Awards 2015

LAUGFS Petroleum saw its reputation as an industry frontrunner in human resource development significantly reinforced when the Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development (SLITAD) bestowed it with its coveted Gold Award, at the SLITAD People Development Awards 2015, held recently at the Galadari Hotel.

The award was presented to the company following a stringent evaluation process conducted by SLITAD, an eminent professional body dedicated to the promotion of best practices in people development. The accolade also represents the strong and unrelenting focus of LAUGFS Petroleum in its human resource development efforts, which bagged the Silver Award at last year’s SLITAD People Development Awards.

The process of evaluation for the Awards was conducted by a distinguished panel of judges, led by the respected academic Prof. Gamini De Alwis. This included a detailed report, presentations and an audit to assess the company’s human resource strategies and initiatives implemented during the 2014/2015 financial year. The evaluation covered a broad sphere of core HR areas including learning and development, people management, involvement and empowerment, as well as performance measurement.

In the wake of its awards success, the senior management of LAUGFS Petroleum expressed its gratitude to Dr. Saman Weerawansa, a respected academic who serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Over the course of the recent past, the company has worked together with Dr. Weerawansa to implement a series of residential training programs. The company also praised the supportive efforts of the Sri Lanka Foundation, a foremost and pioneering adult education centre in the country, and its Chairman Prof. Kapila Gunasekara.

LAUGFS Petroleum’s SLITAD Gold Award rounds off an impressive year for the company on the annual awards circuit after it bagged a merit award in the Extra Large Category (National Level Service Sector) at the CNCI Achiever of Industrial Excellence Awards held in September this year. Carried out annually by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries, the CNCI Awards seek to promote industrial growth in the country by recognising outstanding achievement and performance.
