Lankan energy team attends training program in Bavaria, Germany

For the third consecutive year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology in Germany together with the Bavarian Employers Association bfz organised a technical training program on renewable energy for a group of Sri Lanka energy professionals, who visited the country during the month of June to undergo the training program.

The one week training program was arranged by the Sri Lanka Germany Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The group comprised sector professionals and energy academics. Some of the organisations represented were Dr. Sampath Wahala from The Carbon Consulting Company Ltd., Treasual Kurukulaadithya from Suntec Engineering, Anil Kumar from Holcim (Lanka) Ltd., Shamal Liyanage from Mackwoods Energy PLC, Riyaz Sangani from Vidullanka PLC, Lasith Wimalasena from Windforce Ltd., Swetha Perera from Resource Management Associates Ltd., Eranga Jayarathna from Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association, Dr. Chithral Ambawatte from Ruhuna University – Faculty of Engineering, Aruna Deerasinghe from Vallibel Power Erantha PLC, Dr. Asanka Rodrigo from University of Moratuwa Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Prasanna Gunawardena from University of Peradeniya Faculty of Engineering, and ManjulaMaldeniya from The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The delegation was trained on energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower and bio gas. Each of the companies made a brief presentation of their company profiles and thereon the participants was taken to visit the factory plants to gain a hands on experience on how the renewable energy concept works.
