  • The Kingsbury will donate 10% of past pupils’ total bills towards their alma maters
  • Offer open for delivery from ‘The Indulgence’ menu and all restaurants through Feb. 2021

Pushing the boundaries in stakeholder engagement, The Kingsbury, which is Hayleys’ Leisure Sector flagship hotel has launched a unique initiative to engage past pupils of schools around the country, who are resident in Colombo. ‘Support Your Alma Mater’ encourages past pupils of these selected schools to indulge in The Kingsbury’s extensive gastronomic fare.

Through this initiative, The Kingsbury will donate 10% of the total bill value to the individual past pupil’s alma mater each month. The offer is open to every gastronomical experience The Kingsbury is renowned for – indulgences that have etched chapters among gourmet connoisseurs.

Just a couple of clicks on the extensive delivery menu available on ‘The Kingsbury Indulgence’ platform, indulgence.thekingsburyhotel.com is all it takes to give back to your alma mater. Indulge in the expansive range of amazing epicurean options at Churros, The Ocean, King’s Steak Bar, Yue Chuan, Harbour Court, Honey Beach and Ce La Vi. From Chinese to seafood, Japanese to steaks, Indian to Thai, east and west are well combined for perfect meals ending with delectable desserts, all available on ‘The Indulgence’ platform. Once restrictions are eased, the ‘Support Your Alma Mater’ offer will also open its doors for dine in and take away.

With a number of schools including key private, national and international schools having expressed great enthusiasm to become a part of this initiative, The Kingsbury is currently in the process of formalising the processes for full implementation. The offer will be valid until the end of February 2021 and will include the festive season – Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

“Maintaining our business continuity in a milieu of uncertainty due to COVID-19 has brought about a myriad of challenges,” says Hayleys Leisure Sector Managing Director Rohan Karr. “Sustaining income and ensuring employment of our team is a priority for us. But at the same time, we observed that due to COVID-19, a number of fund-raising events organised by past pupils for their schools were cancelled. It was these two factors that showed us opportunity to close the gap by finding a two-fold solution; increasing revenue for us and enabling past pupils to fund raise for their school. Hence, ‘Support Your Alma Mater’ is one way in which that funding gap can be assuaged for the schools and enable us to keep our bottom line sustainable.”

Past pupils need to simply register their alma mater with the relevant details via ‘The Kingsbury Indulgence’ platform. The Kingsbury will maintain a dedicated account for each registered school to ensure traceability of spends and accountability of contributions.

‘Support Your Alma Mater’ is not just about giving back to your school; it is also about the past pupil having an unmatched gastronomic journey at the same time. What a way to strengthen old school ties!
