distinguished gathering comprising of its key customers, leading suppliers and over 400 employees responsible for the company’s success. The Chief Guest was Brandix Lanka Founder M.H. Omar, who together with the Guests of Honour State Minister S.B. Dissanayake, Brandix Lanka Director Aslam Omar and Nandanee Abeywardane graced the occasion.   

The company’s history is rooted in humble beginnings, starting off as a small-time baker named ‘Ran Ovens’, who subsequently entered into an international joint venture and established Finagle Lanka, a state-of-the-art bakery. It heralded an industry revolution and within a few years became the first Sri Lankan baker to be awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality of output. Over the years, they grew from strength to strength, gaining the FSSC 22000 and HACCP food safety certifications, which attested to the hygienic nature of their processes and products essential for a food manufacturer. 

Other achievements were the development of its range of frozen baked and par-baked products and exports to international markets in the USA, UK, Australia and the Maldives, which bears testimony to their continued pioneering achievements. Moreover, they were active participants in reviving the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association, which strengthened the hand of all bakery owners in the country. Furthermore, Finagle Lanka is now a proud fully-owned Sri Lankan organisation.

Today, Finagle Lanka is a reputed baker of excellence, serving the entire island through its network of agents. As their product portfolio expanded, so did their workforce, which today exceeds 400 associates.

Managing Director Mahinda Ranasinghe, the man who guided the destiny of Finagle Lanka from its inception, stated, “The odds were against us from the beginning. Our associates, our suppliers, our valued customers, distributors, and other stakeholders, all contributed in ample measure towards our many successes over the past 25 years. It is the result of not only working hard, but also working together as a team; if not, none of our achievements would have been possible. This celebration was held to recognise, appreciate and thank all who are involved in our venture. It serves to emphasise the fact that teamwork is essential as we go boldly into the future that awaits us.”
