Akbar Brothers launch novel Iced Tea Mocktail

Food Expo Culinary Art Exhibition 2019 was successfully held at BMICH with the participation of a large number of hotel industry professionals. An attractive feature of the exhibition was the introduction of two iced tea mocktails by Akbar Brothers Ltd., the premium quality tea exporter. 

Akbar Brothers went on to make iced tea mocktails using different tea concentrates. The introduction of iced tea in a mocktail was followed by a competition to prepare an iced tea mocktail in 14 minutes. A representative of Heritance Aarah Hotel Maldives was the winner. Akbar Brothers presented the prizes and certificates to the winners as the Main Beverage Sponsor for this event.

The purpose of the event was to promote the preparation of mocktails with tea concentrates in hopes of creating an enjoyable and entertaining beverage for hotel guests. Further this event was a platform to showcase the ‘mixology’ skills of employees in the hotel sector. Akbar Brothers has been a prestigious leader in tea exports for over 50 years. 

As the world’s leading Ceylon Tea exporter; the company brings in a great amount of foreign exchange and was also awarded Sri Lanka’s Number One Export Brand in 2019 by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board. The world consumes around 75 million of cups of tea daily from what is exported from Akbar Brothers. 

Today they are managed by the second and third generation of the founders who started the business in 1969. In addition to a large number of national and international awards, the company has been accredited with quality certificates such as ISO22000, ISO9001, HACCP, IFS Food Standard and Organic Certificates.
