‘The One Transworks Square’ Shougang Group, Beijing donates 12 tons of disinfectants to Sri Lanka

Solidifying the longstanding relationship between the Chinese business fraternity and Sri Lanka, the lead construction team of ‘The One Transworks Square Development’, the Shougang Group of Beijing donated 12 tonnes of disinfectants to the Government of Sri Lanka as aid in the battle against the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Shougang Group, headquartered in Beijing is a Top-500 Chinese enterprise with a history of nearly a century since being established in 1919. At present, the organisation operates over 600 subsidiaries, employing 90,000 employees. 

In Sri Lanka, the Shougang Group has undertaken the prestigious assignment of being the lead construction partners of ‘The One’, a luxury development comprising the Ritz-Carlton residences, located in Colombo 1.

“The essential medical items donated by the Shougang Group have already been sent to the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine Services of Sri Lanka for utilisation against the spread of COVID-19. I and my team in the Embassy appreciate your timely thinking to donate these items in our hour of need,” commented Acting Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China K.K. Yoganaadan, in a letter. 

The Shougang Group has continued to maintain cordial relations with its stakeholders in Sri Lanka and remains invested in the well-being of the country including its large workforce currently located in the country. The management of the Group has promised continued support to be extended towards the island in the months to come.
