The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC’s baby care brand Khomba Baby partnered with the respected global youth leadership organisation AIESEC to take the ‘Hoda Purudu 12 steps’ across the country under the theme ‘World’s Largest Lesson’.

The program consists of training children between the ages 6-11 years and then conducting a competition to award the best ‘Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu’ student and thereby offer a scholarship in each school. Primary students from 17 selected schools in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts were trained on the 12 steps of ‘Hoda Purudu’ reaching 4,000 children in the first phase of a national rollout.

Swadeshi has a rich tradition of helping local communities in various CSR projects enriching the lives of our communities living in Sri Lanka. The idea behind ‘Hoda Purudu’ comes from the heart where it believes in children being introduced to good habits that have been existing in the rich Sri Lankan culture that we as parents have forgotten. Swadeshi believes in bringing back these good habits and does its part in building good citizens for the future of Sri Lanka.

In order to educate children, Swadeshi has specially designed a very attractive easy to read colourful book that encourages values. The ‘Swadeshi Khomba Baby Hoda Purudu’ book encourages values such as protecting the environment, self-hygiene, love and care for animals, healthy balanced diet, spirituality, caring for the elderly etc. It is very important for us to instil such values in children at younger age and it all begins at the primary age groups, said Swadeshi Chairperson Amari Wijewardene.

In today’s context the ‘Hoda Purudu’, number two of self-hygiene/washing hands, is central to natural germ protection of Khomba Baby soap.

Swadeshi since 1941 is the market leader for herbal care brands Khomba, Rani and Khomba Baby in Sri Lanka and is a trusted organisation for practicing strong Sri Lankan values.
