The Hambantota International Port successfully concluded the ‘Siththam Sayura 2019’ art competition held under the theme ‘The Future of the Hambantota Port and its Development – in My Eyes’, which was open for all schools in the Hambantota District as well as children of HIP staff. 

The competition held in the months of November and December 2019 under the guidance of the Zonal Education Office of Hambantota, saw the participation of 16 schools and ended with the winners receiving valuable gifts and certificates at a grand prize-giving ceremony held on 24 January at the Hambantota International Port premises. 

This competition was held in line with the company’s CSR and sustainability initiative to support the people and community by uplifting children’s education, which is also a Millennium Development Goal.

The schools submitted 

220 works of art, while 14 submissions were by staff members’ children.

The prize-giving was held with the participation of Hambantota Educational Zone Director A.G. Samanthi, HIPG CEO Ray Ren, HIPS CEO Ravi Jayawickreme, management and staff of the port, school principals, teachers, staff members, and selected students from the 16 schools. The 12 winning paintings decorated the 2020 calendar printed by HIP.
