RDB Bank launches school sanitary program

Regional Development Bank, a fully state owned Premier Development Bank in the island has launched a social responsibility program by providing sanitary facilities to rural schools with lesser infrastructure. As an initial step the bank selected 25 schools from each district to provide this facility. The bank will fund the total cost while the Sri Lanka Army under the command of its present commander Lt. General Mahesh Senanayake will assist in constructing the buildings.

The first such facility was completed recently at Dehiowita National School and handed over to school authorities by RDB’s Sabaragamuwa Province Regional General Manager Gamini Abeyrathne; the Principal of Dehiowita National School Rohana Gamage, the staff of RDB, the teaching staff, students and their parents participated at the simple but all important handing over ceremony.

Parallel to this campaign, the second sanitary facility was handed over to Dodamgaslanda Maha Vidyalaya on 20 February under the aegis of North Western Province Regional General Manager D.M.T.S. Kumara, the principal of the school and RDB bank’s Rideegama Manager Upali Dharmathilake along with the students and large gathering of parents.

Opening of RDB Kekulu accounts, RDB 14+ accounts and an awareness program on existing banking products of RDB too was held on the same day. RDB has selected 25 schools covering the 25 districts of the island and the facility will be provided to the following schools with full sponsorship of RDB Bank while SL Army will do the construction work.

  • Kelin Kanda Maha Vidyalaya – Baduraliya
