  • Invites residents of Naula to bring their e-waste for cash bonanza event on 28 September

With a vision to create an e-waste-free country, Mobitel, Sri Lanka’s national mobile service provider, embarked on an island-wide e-waste collection program recently.

Through this, Mobitel aims to collect e-waste by leveraging its much-famed Cash Bonanza event, the only loyalty reward program that runs every month throughout the year. This month, Mobitel is going to Naula and invites those from the area to bring their e-waste when they converge at the venue for a day filled with events and celebrations at the Naula public ground on 28 September.

The e-waste stall at the Cash Bonanza event will collect old phones, batteries, computers, printers and other electronic equipment. Furthermore, Mobitel will reward customers who bring e-waste with a free data card in a bid to encourage and create more awareness on e-waste management and disposal.

As part of the sustainable CSR initiative, Mobitel plans to have an e-waste stall at every Cash Bonanza event, to collect e-waste from households in the respective regions and dispose or recycle according to regulations for the greater good of the country.

The nation’s most popular prize giveaway and carnival, Mobitel Cash Bonanza is already going strong in its fourth year. Considering the vast reach, popularity and influence of the Cash Bonanza event, Mobitel is leveraging this to extend its CSR reach to thousands of people for the betterment of the environment. By inviting Cash Bonanza visitors to bring their e-waste for appropriate disposal, Mobitel is inculcating in them a responsible attitude towards managing e-waste in a manner that does not harm the environment.
