A significant feature of the Bank of Ceylon,  which celebrated its 78th anniversary this year, is that from its very inception it has had very active, multiple religious and literary associations – the Buddhist Association, the Hindu Association, the Muslim Association and Christian Association, as well as the Sinhala Literary and Tamil Literary Association.  On the day of the anniversary in August each year it has Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian events and religious leaders from each religion attend the morning event. The Hindu Association of Bank of Ceylon celebrated the annual Navarathri Pooja between 20 and 29 September.

This year the speaker session was on ‘Religion and Good Corporate Governance, The Convergence’ by Chartered Accountant Ranel. T Wijesinha, an Independent Non-Executive Director/and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Bank of Ceylon, and a Commissioner, of the Securities & Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
