My take on Sanga being offered the job of Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK:

For what Sanga has contributed to Sri Lanka and cricket, he deserves the highest recognition.

Foreign Service is as specialised a job as cricket, although we have tended to ‘pollute’ it with political appointees in the past.

Foreign Service should not be used as a ‘farewell gift’ for retirees or as a ‘consolation prize’ for election losers!

In any case, I believe Sanga can play a much bigger role in world cricket. Sri Lanka will benefit more from a ‘Global Sanga’.
