Ayurveda Expo 2016 opens today

The ‘Ayurveda Expo 2016’ International Indigenous Healthcare Exhibition organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in association with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Government institutions and supported by other organisations will open today 8 July at 10 a.m. at the BMICH under the distinguished patronage of the President and other Government Ministers. 

The exhibition will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. up to Sunday 10 July. Entrance is free of charge.

The Chief Guest will be President Maithripala Sirisena and Guests of Honour are Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathuideen.

Additionally, heads of Government, diplomatic missions, organisations from the indigenous Ayurveda sector and distinguished guests will grace the occasion.

The three-day mega exhibition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce for the sixth time, Ayurveda Expo 2016 will focus on manufacturers of Ayurveda/herbal, nature-friendly health foods and beverages, health resorts/spas, Ayurveda hospitals/clinics, educational institutions, beauty care products, herbal cosmetics, yoga, acupuncture, homeopathy gym and spa equipment, gem and jewellery associated with healthcare.

Foreign delegations/visitors have confirmed participation from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Korea, Japan, China, South Africa, Nigeria, France, etc. A Medical Symposium too will be conducted parallel to the exhibition on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where professionals, academics and researchers from overseas and locally will present papers on traditional medicine.

The objective of the exhibition is to promote the Sri Lankan Ayurveda system and healthcare practices locally and overseas and also to provide an opportunity for all relevant sectors, to promote their products and services, both locally and internationally.
