Workshop on Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Customer Due Diligence

With Sri Lanka placed on FATF’s list of jurisdictions that are non-compliant and now blacklisted by the EU, designated financial businesses and non-financial businesses including real estate agents, casino operators, gem merchants, lawyers etc. have to demonstrate that serious attempts are being made to conduct proper due diligence on every customer and enhanced due diligence on politically exposed persons and others.

A workshop on the above subject will be held on 27 March at Movenpick Hotel Colombo-3 from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. The Workshop will be conducted by Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya P.C., the author of several publications on anti-money laundering and the combating of terrorist financing who has trained compliance officers in more than 20 countries. 

Through case studies, the participants will learn how to conduct sensitive CDD and ECDD and the pitfalls to be aware of. A Panel discussion will follow the main presentation.

The workshop is meant for CEOs, Compliance Officers, and Officials of Banks, Finance Companies; Primary Dealers, Portfolio Managers, Stock Brokers; Insurance Companies, Brokers and Agents; those engaged in investing, administering, and managing funds or money on behalf of others; those engaged in safekeeping and administration of cash or liquid securities on behalf of others; Safe Custody Services, Trustee administration, investment management and superannuation schemes; Casino’s, Gambling houses, conducting of Lotteries; Real Estate Agents; Dealers of precious metals and stones; Mortgagors; Lawyers, Notaries, Accountants, when they provide services for buying and selling real estate, managing client monies, bank accounts, establishment of companies, creation of legal persons; Registered non-profit organisations and non-governmental organisations.
