With 1 COVID-19 positive case, South Asia Textiles taking added precautions

  • Says all PCR tests conducted on other employees thus far have come in negative

South Asia Textiles Ltd. located in Pugoda yesterday in a statement confirmed one of its employees had tested COVID-19 positive and the company was taking added precautions.

Following is the full text of the statement:

As a BOI certified company operating in Sri Lanka since 2004, South Asia Textiles Ltd. complied and executed all the health and safety protocols in preparing the workplace for COVID-1 based on the directives of the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Sri Lanka and other Government authorities to support the national efforts to mitigate the spread of it. 

As a further precautionary measure, South Asia Textiles suspended operations on 8 October. The company further complied with the directive received from the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, Pugoda and carried out PCR tests on personnel commencing on 10 October. This was conducted in consultation with the representatives from the office of the Medical Officer of Health and the Public Health Inspectors of the area. 

The results of the PCR tests carried out on 10 October revealed one employee of South Asia Textiles Ltd. has been exposed to COVID-19 and tested positive. All PCR tests conducted on other employees thus far have come in negative. 

South Asia Textiles Ltd. is currently working in close coordination with the Government Healthcare Authorities and other relevant Government agencies to facilitate the follow up action in this regard.

South Asia Textiles humbly request that the privacy of this individual be respected.
