The SLMLBC stall at the FHAM Trade Fair

The Sri Lanka-Maldives Business Council (SLMLBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organised a Trade and Investment Promotion Mission to Maldives from 15-17 July. The Council also took part at FHAM, the premier international hospitality trade fair in Maldives 2019, at the Dharubaaruge Exhibition Hall, Male.

The main objective of this mission was to facilitate establishing and further expanding business contacts with potential partners taking into consideration the advantage of entering into the ever-expanding market in Maldives. The delegation consisted 10 leading organisations i.e. Kalani Cables PLC, Eastern Allied Ltd., Puritas Ltd., Ocean Trade Logistics Ltd., International Construction Consortium, Pirekma Ltd., Vihanga Structures Ltd., Spillburg Holdings Ltd., Marine Transport Services Ltd. and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The delegation was able to have meetings with some ministries and other important organisations in Maldives i.e. Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, Maldives Association of Construction Industry, etc.

The delegates were able to learn many changes with regard to new laws, the new opportunities, potential markets in Maldives. All the delegates received a number of inquiries and some of them have found suitable business partners in Maldives who are willing to work as agents. The SLMBC believes that this visit will definitely strengthen the trade ties between Sri Lanka and Maldives as well as immensely assist in establishing potential business contacts and promote bilateral business between both countries.
