Thambapanni Abimani Entrepreneurs Award Ceremony 2018

Puttalam District Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agri Business (PDCCIA) was setup in the year 2007. With a strong membership of over 300 members from the district, they represent entrepreneurs in the district who bring the business issues within the district level to the national level while providing commercial and industrial services in to their ventures. Their membership consists of different fields of business in agriculture, coconut based, fisheries, handicrafts, ornamental fish and light industry.

PDCCIA together with the assistance of District Secretariat office of Puttalam and the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) have organised the ‘Thambapanni Abimani Entrepreneurs Award Ceremony 2018’ to recognise and reward outstanding entrepreneurs in the district to motivate encourage them so that they continue to enhance their contribution to the economic development from the district and to stimulate entrepreneurs to seek excellence in their respective field of business.

There are 16 AGA offices in the entire district. They have planned four awards for the top competitors categorised as Micro, Small, Medium and Large for each AGA Division. After overall evaluations the top district winners are to be presented four Gold awards. There will be an overall Platinum award for the most “Outstanding Entrepreneur of the year” and the best “Women Entrepreneur of the Year”. They plan to promote the awards through all the banks, finance companies, insurance companies and the NEDA field officers who are in all AGA Divisions. In overall they expect around 500 applicants from the district. An independent panel of judges that will consist of professionals in their fields will evaluate the applications with the services of the Wayamba University.  

They will also recognise 12 large Entrepreneur in the District with a once lifetime award of “Hall of Fame” for their commitment that is evidently proven of their contribution to the economy and social services within the district. The award ceremony will be held in the month of December 2018 at Suriya Resort Waikkala and they expect President Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest for the occasion.

The closing date for applications is 30 September. Application forms can be obtained from the District Secretariat NEDA officer Ayesha, from the Puttalam District NEDA Officers and Puttalam District Chamber of commerce main office in Pambala.
