Technology upgradation for the tyre industry

  • Workshop on tyre compounding and tyre technology for Sri Lankan tyre manufacturing industry

 

The EDB in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products (SLAMERP) and Plastic and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) organised a two-day workshop in July on product innovation, technology and R&D to upgrade the knowledge of the tyre manufacturers/exporters by obtaining the services of technical experts from India. 

The first collaborative tyre workshop was conducted successfully with the participation of over 100 technical personnel of leading tyre manufacturing and exporting companies in Sri Lanka.  

Considering the knowledge gained by the first workshop, on the request made by the technical personnel and the importance of continuous upgradation of the knowledge of the sector to be in par with international requirements, EDB in collaboration with the SLAMERP and PRISL organised a two-day workshop on tyre compounding and tyre technology by obtaining the services of technical experts from India on 25 and 26 July at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. 

Over 100 technical personnel from leading Sri Lankan tyre manufacturing/exporting companies including major players such as Camso Loadstar, Trelleborg Lanka Ltd., Global Rubber Industries Ltd., CEAT Sri Lanka, etc. participated in this workshop. 

The objectives of this workshop were to enhance the technical knowledge of the tyre industry personnel and provide exposure on latest developments and tyre application requirements of the international tyre industry.    Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairperson and Chief Executive Indira Malwatte, Plastic & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka President Kaushal Rajapaksha, Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products Chairman Prabhash Subasinghe attended the opening session of the workshop on 25 July.
