Sri Lankan food and beverage products promoted at Foodex Saudi 2017

Jeddah: The Sri Lanka Tea Board, the Department of Commerce and Industries and private sector companies in Sri Lanka joined the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh to promote the island’s food and beverage products at the Foodex Saudi 2017, which kicked off on 12 November in Jeddah.

Foodex Saudi is Saudi Arabia’s leading international trade exhibition fully dedicated to the food and drink industry. It concluded at the Jeddah Centre for Forums and Events yesterday.

Six Sri Lankan companies in the food and beverage sector are participating in the exhibition.

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim and Consul General in Jeddah U.L. Niyas were the main guests at the inauguration of the Sri Lankan pavilion.

A half-day session was organised for the interested buyers from Saudi Arabia to network with sellers from Sri Lanka at Movenpick Hotel, Jeddah on 14 November. Around 50 Saudi importing and distribution companies took part in the event, the Saudi Gazette reported.
