The ‘Sri Lanka Medical and Equipment Virtual Expo (SLMEVE)’ is organised by the Worldex India Exhibition & Promotion Ltd. in association with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and with the support of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Medical Devices Industry (SLCMDI).

This online business matching expo is scheduled from 16 to 19 March on Bee2Bee. SLMEVE will bring the latest medical technology and innovations, healthcare and diagnostic equipment, raw material suppliers as well as related technology companies from India and overseas markets to connect and explore business opportunities in the growing medical and healthcare sector of Sri Lanka.

The medical and healthcare sectors have gained great importance and are at the centre stage of government and private sector priorities after the pandemic in 2020. Countries across the world have been looking to upgrade these sectors as the health of whole nations rides on this industry.

The Sri Lankan medical equipment and healthcare industry is growing on the back of rising demand for quality healthcare due to improving incomes, an ageing population and rising non-communicable diseases due to changing lifestyles.

According to the Central Bank, Sri Lanka imported $ 552 million worth of medical and pharmaceuticals products in 2019. The private healthcare spend is also expected to grow at 10.4% to touch $ 2.4 billion by 2024. The Sri Lanka Medical and Equipment Virtual Expo will facilitate that local importers are linked with 70+ quality suppliers and meetings arranged at a suitable time, thus delivering all the benefits of a physical trade fair coupled with the safety of an online experience through the Bee2Bee Business Matching Platform.

Worldex India Managing Director Rajesh Bhagat stated: “We are happy to organise this virtual business matching week on our Bee2Bee platform for Sri Lanka market. In these challenging times, virtual platforms will assist businesses to connect Face2Face with potential buyers, strengthen engagements with existing customers, launch new products and explore business opportunities in target markets.

“Similarly, buyers get to source quality products, meet new suppliers, send enquiry and schedule meetings with interested suppliers at their convenience. We hope Sri Lankan companies will be benefit from our virtual business matching platform.”

The expo will also see a pavilion by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the apex business chamber of India with the support of Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

The FICCI India pavilion will see suppliers for medical textiles and disposables, medical devices and equipment, diagnostics tools and supplies and more.

Speaking on their participation, FICCI Head – International Trade Fairs (MAI) Pankaj Verma said: “We are pleased to be associated with Worldex India to organise Indian Pavilion with 50 companies at the Sri Lanka Medical and Equipment Virtual Expo.

“We are hopeful that SLMEVE will offer good opportunities for Indian exhibiting companies to promote their innovative products and explore business cooperation in Sri Lanka.

I am glad to learn that The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Sri Lanka Chamber of Medical Device Industry have endorsed the show. With pre-fixed business matching meetings, it would be good opportunity for Sri Lankan buyers of medical and healthcare industry to source quality made in Indian products.”
