The Al Hilal Hospital, based in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Sri Lanka Club, in close association with the Embassy of Sri Lanka, conducted a free mega medical clinic and camp at the Al Hilal Hospital premises, to coincide with the 71st Independence Day Celebrations of Sri Lanka. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis stated that well over 350 Sri Lankan expatriates domiciled in the Kingdom of Bahrain visited the Al Hilal Hospital to obtain medical and dental services such as lipid profile testing, diabetes and hypertension treatment, gynaecology, paediatrics, urology, and complete body check-up including vital internal organs, as well as free specialist consultations, among others, totally free of charge.

Sri Lanka Club in Bahrain President Rizvi Ahmed, former President Mohammed Muneer, and Executive Members of Sri Lanka Club, initiated this selfless and humanitarian service along with the Al Hilal Hospital and the Embassy, in order to extend medical and clinical services and other medical tests and examinations to all Sri Lankan nationals, mostly to the less privileged Sri Lankans in Bahrain at this auspicious Independence Day Celebrations. The opening remarks were made by Al Hilal Group Medical Centre CEO Dr. Sharath Chandran, highlighting the vitality and criticality of one’s health and well-being. Senior physicians of Al Hilal Hospital illustrated to the visitors and patients the various aspects of health-related sicknesses and diseases and how to detect or avert them, among others. Ambassador Dr. Mendis also accentuated the fact that regular medical check-ups, at least once in six months, is critically important, since any sickness or condition be it high/low blood pressure, diabetes, complications related to cardiology, lungs, and kidneys, to even cancer can be detected at a burgeoning and early stage, thus enabling to obtain appropriate and pertinent medical treatment. Both Sri Lanka Club President Rizvi Ahmed and Al Hilal Hospital Head of Operations echoed similar sentiments and views regarding the medical camp, in their respective addresses.

The key feature of this free medical camp and clinic was that all who visited were given a Privilege Card titled “Exclusively for Sri Lankan Community”, with a discount of between 20% to 50% on all consultation and services.
