Softlogic to initiate landmark project with BIA

  • The largest air-conditioning project of Softlogic’s history

 

Softlogic’s Central Air Conditioning Division has scored a landmark project along with SMARDT Australia, by signing a Rs. 379 million worth contract with Airport Aviation (Sri Lanka) Ltd. to replace 1500 TR magnetic bearing chillers at Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake. 

The project agreement was signed by Airport Aviation Sri Lanka Chairman Dammika Ranathunga at the presence of CEO Mohammed Rizvi, Board Director P. Nirmalan, Director Chaminda De Silva and General Manager Viraj Fernando representing Softlogic Holdings PLC.

Softlogic CEO Mohammed Rizvi, elaborating the magnitude of the project stated, “As one of the leading players in the Central Air Conditioning business, we have the correct team to shoulder a magnums project of this nature. As such, our team of experienced engineers would utilise the most effective project management tools and methodology to complete the project while matching the scope of the work to their immense pre-eminence in the industry. We would provide utmost importance to this project as we do understand the expectation and the trust laid on us by the client.”

Through the replacement of the SMARDT magnetic bearing chillers at the BIA, following the completion of the project, the BIA would have an air-conditioning facility that is energy efficient, zero oil-related maintenance and ultra-quiet. Whereby the project would prove to be cost effective and sustainable as there is no oil to change the heat transfer rates in the heat exchangers.

The current project scope       includes 49 story Luna Apartment, Union PLC, refurbishment of the Ceylon Tourist Board office building, CEB DD4 regional office building, Galle Beach Trust 100 room hotel project and Suwasewana Hospital Kandy.
