Puttalam Chamber Gold Award for Adeem Uniforms

Tens of thousands of children in the Middle East wake up to Sri Lankan made school uniforms each morning, and the company which carved out an important niche for Sri Lanka was recognised by the region’s chamber recently.

Adeem Uniform Ltd. was awarded the prestigious Gold Award for large scale companies by the Puttalam District Chamber of Commerce at a ceremony held at Suriya Resort in Waikkala recently.

Adeem, which was established 35 years ago in the Middle East, opened its BOI registered manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka at the Noorani Industrial Estate in Waikkala three years ago. The company supplies uniforms to its own show rooms in the gulf and 70% of its exports are for school uniforms supplied to over 100 schools in the Middle East. Apart from school uniforms the company also manufactures and supplies uniforms to hospitals, militaries, industrial companies and offices.

Adeem Chairperson Alia Al Sudairi and the Company Director Lamia Al Sudairi identified Sri Lanka for its 100% export venture. The Chamber also recognised the role of Country Manager for Adeem, Ruwangi Fernando who heads the overall operations in Sri Lanka by awarding her the Best Woman Entrepreneur Award.

Adeem, which has generated numerous job opportunities in the area further anticipates expanding its volume of production and exports in its vast land premises which will be further beneficial to the families in the area and for the country.

While thanking the District Chamber of Puttalam for organising such an event to encourage the companies in the district at a time where many such events are centralised in Colombo, Adeem further wishes to thank the contribution of the dynamic management, the customers and above all, the highly committed and motivated workforce for being able to achieve the award after a short period of commencement.
