Promotion on Sri Lanka’s trade and investment in Telangana

The Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai, as part of their ‘Economic Diplomacy Promotion of Sri Lanka in Southern India’ organised an event in Hyderabad on 23 October in association with the Federation of Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI).

At the seminar on ‘Trade and Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka’ organised by the FTCCI, Deputy High Commissioner V. Krishnamoorthy highlighted the potential opportunities available in Sri Lanka and stated that both sides could jointly engage in projects in IT and the pharmaceutical sector, as Hyderabad is a major hub for these two sectors in the South India. Minister Commercial Yasantha de Silva made a detailed presentation on trade and investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka for Telangana entrepreneurs. More than 75 FTCCI members participated at the event and have shown their interest in doing business with Sri Lanka.  

The Deputy High Commissioner was also invited as the Guest of Honour of the ‘Accelerate 2’ program organised by the Global EXIM Institute in Hyderabad on 24 October. At the event, he stated that Sri Lanka and India have and continues to maintain a long-lasting bilateral relationship in all spheres, and that the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai will facilitate any work related to strengthening economic diplomacy between the two countries. The 150 participants at this event were also given a detailed insight on trade and investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka. 

On 25 October, Deputy High Commissioner Krishnamoorthy and Commercial Minister Yasantha de Silva also met with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Hyderabad Chapter Director, Federation of Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President, Federation of Indian Export Organisation Director and Q-Mart Super Market Director and discussed the expansion of trade and investment between the two countries.
