Presentation on Port City Colombo and ‘One Belt One Road’ Initiative

A seminar on ‘The Port City Colombo: Opportunities, Legal Implications and Contractual Issues’ will be held on the 30 October at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 07, from 2.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m. 

Port City Colombo is a brand new city development built as an extension of the Central Business District of Sri Lanka’s vibrant commercial capital. Spanning 269 hectares of reclaimed land from the sea, Port City Colombo will be South Asia’s premiere residential, retail and business destination, offering unmatched planned city living along the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Colombo International Financial City is a special financial zone and International Financial Centre situated in Colombo, Sri Lanka. 

The speakers for this is seminar are Port City Colombo Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Liang Thow Ming, who will make an introduction to and an overview of the city and its opportunities for investment; NUS former C.J. Koh Chair and author of leading text ‘The International Law on Foreign Investment’ (Cambridge University Press) Professor Emeritus M. Sornarajah Ph.D. (London) LL.D., who will speak on ‘Contractual Issues in Foreign Investment Transactions’; President’s Counsel Dr. D. C. Jayasuriya, who will highlight the ‘One Belt One Road Initiative and Legal Impediments’; Dr. Asanga Gunawansa Ph.D. (NUS) will address issues on ‘Public/Private Sector Arrangements and Implications for Sri Lankan Businesses’; and Securities and Exchange Commission former Director General Malik Cader, who will address opportunities for the financial markets and its regulation. 

The seminar is for heads and management of blue chip companies, banks, real estate companies, importers, exporters, finance companies, freight forwarders, stock brokers, accountants, lawyers and financial market regulators.
