Ocean Trade and Logistics Ltd. was presented with a coveted Excellence award in the export sector at the National Business Excellence awards ceremony organised by the National Chamber of Commerce. The gala event was held recently at the Colombo Hilton Hotel. Founded by MD Sudesh Mendis with exporting goods worth just $ 100 to Maldives, Ocean Trade and Logistics has come a long way to enhance its capacity not only as a leading exporter operating regularly on sea and air but also venturing into many other fields. The company made history last year by exporting the highest number of containers to Maldives from Sri Lanka. Ocean Trade and Logistic Ltd. is special in that all their exports are under the company’s supervision to ensure damage free safe transportation on a reasonable price to Maldives.

Ocean Trade and Logistics has now come a step forward to manufacture and export their own products. The company exports cow dung and compost to Maldives under the brand names OTL COWDUNG and UGROW. They have also obtained the agency to export compost under the brand name UNI GROW. Ocean Trade andLogistic has earned a reputation as the number one seller of the best compost that is ideal for the soil in Maldives. 

The significance of this venture is the fact that Ocean Trade and Logistic brings in 100% foreign exchange by exporting a product manufactured with 100% local raw materials. The manufacturing plant located at Dambadeniya has generated a large number of job opportunities to the villagers. In addition the company grows and exports fruits such as pineapples and vegetables. Ocean Trade and Logistics’ business portfolio includes exporting and transporting lime tissue, organic fertilisers, Alaella Tea, building materials and all the supplies for hotels and resorts.
