The National Chamber of Exporters launched the second edition of its unique Coffee Table Book at the Business Forum which was held following the conclusion of the AGM on 28 January held at Hotel Galadari in Colombo.

This valuable publication, which is the only one of its kind in the field of exports, has been printed on quality glossy paper, with attractive pictorials. The Chamber has produced this publication in collaboration with the publishers of the well-known Business Magazine Lanka Monthly Digest (LMD). The first edition of the publication was launched at the AGM of the Chamber last year. Following the launch this year, the first copy of the publication was presented to Ambassador of the EU Delegation in Sri Lanka Denis Chaibi, who was the Chief Guest at the event. The publication was also presented to selected distinguished invitees at the event.

The Coffee Table Book is an ideal publication which portrays the image of Sri Lanka and depicts the advantages related to the strategic location of the country in the cross roads of international trades routes, also provides a glimpse of the resources of the country, and strengths related to the various aspects of international trade. It also carries valuable export statistics and information on market trends for Sri Lankan products and services in overseas markets. Importantly it carries concise articles contributed by Sri Lankan business tycoons and ‘export champions’ in the different fields of exports, in which they are the business leaders. Their contributions provide insights to their success stories, and journey in becoming leading exporters, and their achievements in the international market place. Their stories and experiences serve as a knowledge to those who aspire to make a mark in international trade, related to exports.

The publication also carries contributions by experts and professional writers on different subjects related to exports, which serves as a source of knowledge, and valuable information. Some of the specific subjects covered include the following: Trade Information Portal; the National Single Window (NSW) for Trade Facilitation; Entreport; the apparel business; financing of exporters; foreign investments for exports; innovation for exports; export certification; community engagement in exports; women entrepreneurs in exports; the development agenda of the National Exports Strategy (NES); the North South nexus for exports; and the endurance of Sri Lankan exporters and their ability to overcome challenges, among others.

This publication, which is distributed to all important trade points both locally and especially overseas, serves not only to project the image of the country but also as a destination to engage in international trade, for profitable business partnerships, and particularly as a source of quality products and services.

The Chamber will publish the third edition of this unique publication early next year.
