Lanka Impact Investing Network to hold “Emerging Women’s Summit” on 10 April

Lanka Impact Investing Network, the very first impact investing company of Sri Lanka, is hosting the “Emerging Women’s Summit (EWS): Female leadership in social entrepreneurship and impact investing”, on April 10th at Hatch in Colombo.

The event provides a new space for female entrepreneurs and investors who have a passion for social and environmental transformation. This event will increase the visibility and participation of women in the impact investing and social enterprise landscape in Sri Lanka while providing a network for these women to meet, collaborate, and mentor one another.

The event will be in English and will focus on women’s indispensable role in accelerating Sri Lanka’s economic growth, advancing women’s visibility in company leadership, sharing inspirational stories of successful female entrepreneurs and creating a strong network of gender-conscious impact investing.

This event provides a unique opportunity to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, it will discuss Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals. The Emerging Women’s Summit will feature prominent women in social entrepreneurship and impact investing through a panel of experts and a keynote address. United Nations Social Impact Fund Chief Compliance Officer Jenny Chow will be the keynote speaker. The conference will also host five panellists: Jetwing Travels Chairman Shiromal Cooray, UNDP Sri Lanka Head of Operations Samantha Gunasekara, Good Market Co-Founder Achala Samaradiwakara, Ananta Sustainables CEO Savera Weerasinghe, and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Senior Financial Sector Specialist Rathnija Arandara, who will all share their unique experience and understanding of women’s roles in economic development.
