Cabinet approval has been granted to enter into an agreement with the Government of Hungary to obtain financial assistance for the construction of two flyover bridges at Kohuwala and Getambe.

The proposal to obtain financial assistance from the Government of Hungary was submitted by the Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

Accordingly, a loan of Euro 52 million will be obtained from the Hungarian Export Import Bank for the project.

Steps are being taken to enter into a commercial agreement with the relevant contractor to construct the flyovers at Kohuwala and Getambe to provide faster and safer transport for commuters.

The Kohuwala flyover will be constructed on Dutugemunu Street to ease traffic on the Colombo-Horana road while the Getambe flyover will ease traffic in Kandy.
