Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium Industries (SLCSMI) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HCP Consulting; a business and management consulting firm providing end-to-end consulting and grooming services to the SMEs and start-ups, for collaboration in the development of the small and medium scale industrialists in the country.

SLCSMI was set-up to foster and promote the small and medium scale industries in Sri Lanka with a view to promoting the national economy while functioning as the apex body of SMEs in dealing with various stakeholders and agencies including the government. The Chamber offers a range of services and initiatives to foster and promote the SMEs and ‘SLCSMI Industrial Excellence Awards’ is one of the flagship events in the annual calendar of Sri Lankan industries.

HCP Consulting Chairman Chaaminda Kumarasiri said, “Our tagline; ‘Our Business is Growing YOUR Business’ clearly depicts our value proposition and our unique operating model with a pool of experts and a network of service providers enables us delivering all what it takes to grow a business to the next level. While serving individual SMEs and start-ups, we were looking for an opportunity to contribute towards the national SME development agenda and we found SLCSMI, the apex body of SMEs, is the best vehicle for our mission. I am grateful to the Executive Committee of SLCSMI, especially the Immediate Past President Mohideen Cader for their cooperation in materialising this collaboration. I am sure this partnership will add a greater value to the SME development agenda of the country and looking forward to deploy our best efforts.”

As per the MoU, among other things, HCP Consulting will support SLCSMI to strategise its SME agenda while functioning as a catalyst in the execution. Further, the parties will collaborate to explore other possible means to strengthen the SME ecosystem in the country especially via apt national and international partnerships.

“With a proud legacy of over 50 years, SLCSMI has been supporting the back-bone of the Sri Lankan economy in multiple ways. I must be grateful to the founders and my predecessors for their hard work in building this organisation to what it is today. We realised, in this volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world with ever increasing competition and digitisation, it is not an easy task to strategise our mission without the input of experts and we met Chaaminda, who was willing to join hands with us to strategise our SME agenda. Undoubtedly this MoU will add more energy to the Chamber and I am keen to see the merits of this collaboration passing down to our membership and the country,” concluded SLCSMI President Rohan de Silva.
