Guruge Gems receives Presidential Awards

Guruge Gems Ltd., one of the leading companies in the gem and jewellery sector recently bagged two coveted awards at the Presidential Awards Ceremony organised by the National Gem & Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka. The award ceremony was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena in Shangri La hotel, Colombo. 

Bronze award for the holder of the highest number of gem mining license and the award of excellence for the expert miner were the two awards respectively. The awards were received by Guruge Gems MD Gayan Guruge.

Founded by Jindasa Guruge in a small scale, Guruge Gems has now expanded to a number of fields with the head office and main show room located at 169/C , Vidyala Mawatha, Kahawaththa. In addition to being engaged in gem business locally, Guruge Gems exports gems to many countries including Thailand, Bangkok, Hong Kong and USA. Rubies, Blue Sapphires, Cat’s Eyes, Star Stones, Topaz and Alexandrite are some the gem stones of such exports. Guruge Gems, Kahawaththe has earned a highly reputable name over the years for buying and selling gems with trust and confidence. Commenting on the new awards, Gayan Guruge said that the receipt of these awards is a tribute and testimony to trust and confidence customers have kept for the name of ‘Guruge Gems’. The management of Guruge Gems has extended its arms to other fields such as plantation and hotels industry. Peacock Beach Hotel, Hambantota is a sister company of Guruge Gems Ltd.
