Future of finance, global trends in transforming biz in focus at CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit

CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit 2018, the annual flagship event organised by CIMA Sri Lanka, will unfold on 28 and 29 August at Shangri-La Colombo under the theme ‘From insight to impact: Unlocking opportunities’.  

The inauguration will be held on 28 August from 6:30 p.m. onwards. The Chief Guest will be Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development, Vocational Training and Kandyan Heritage Dr. Sarath Amunugama. The thought leadership sessions will be held on 29 August from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Future of finance

In recent years, technology has become a vital component of the finance profession and activities like risk management, critical thinking and cross-functional collaboration are now more in line with accounting jobs. Technology is changing the game for finance professionals. 

The future of finance is here and who better to speak about it than Steven Swientozielskyj FCMA, CGMA, the newly-appointed CIMA President. He is a Board member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and is also an author who has led business transformation across several industries. 

Global trends in transforming businesses

The latest developments in thinking and delivery has taken giant strides. These global trends will provide the base for businesses to make a paradigm shift in thinking and effort to unlock opportunities in business strategies, finance, operations, etc. 

Dr. Rainer Deutschmann, Group Chief Operating Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC, will speak on this topic. As Dialog’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Deutschmann leads the Group’s businesses as well as corporate planning, M&A, and corporate strategy. Rainer has over 20 years of in-depth experience in telecommunications, digital and IT Services, media and entertainment, e-commerce, digital marketing and corporate strategy in mature and emerging markets, across start-ups and multi-nationals.

The combined panel session will be moderated by Dinesh Weerakkody, FCMA, CGMA, Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and National Human Resource Development Council (NHRDC).
