Dr. Arosha appointed Chairman and MD of Lakma Holdings 

Renowned scholar and a leading business personality Dr. Arosha Fernando has been appointed Chairman and the Managing Director of Lakma Holdings Ltd., a premium manufacturer and supplier of an extensive, quality range of specialty food products including herbs and spices, salt and pepper, cloves and cinnamon.

“We are currently in discussions to export our product range to Korea, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy and Maldives, creating the largest export market for our local farmers as well as made them available to the local market through super market chains such as Keels, Cargills, Arpico and Sathosa,” said the newly-appointed Chairman. 

Dr. Fernando holds six University Degrees from Australia – two Bachelor’s degrees, three Master’s degrees and one doctorate, and is the only person to have such a number of degrees as a Sri Lankan. 

This includes Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) and Bachelor of Business (B. Bus.) double degree major in Marketing and Human Resources Management from Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia and Master of Business Administration (MBA) major in International Business Management, Master of Project Management (MPM) and Master of Engineering major in Telecommunications Engineering (M. Eng.) from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Fernando has 25 years of management experience in local and international business field, and is currently the Chairman, MD and CEO of five other companies in Sri Lanka. He is also a senior film producer and produced 17 films, five teledramas and two stage plays over the past five years. 

He is also a Justice of Peace (JP) and the honorary titles of Deshabandhu, Deshamanya and Sri Rohana Jana Ranjana have been presented to him by the Government of Sri Lanka.
