With the aim of promoting its products, Chengdu, a highly innovative city in Western China, held the Chengdu Characteristic Product Promotion Conference at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre on 22 November.

Having existed during the imperial, republican and communist eras of China, Chengdu is now one of the most important economic, financial, commercial, cultural, transportation and communication centres in Western China. The highly innovative city is known for its industrialised goods, machinery and medical equipment. Displaying a variety of such items, the conference offered a stage to a few entrepreneurs who are leading the field to share an outline on their products and as to how they functioned.

Chengdu Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export Secretary General Xiang Luming stated: “Sri Lanka has become China’s most important trade partner in South Asia. As an important country that contributes towards China’s economic growth, Sri Lanka is at present attracting the world with its huge market venture, hence that is why we want to promote our products more in Sri Lanka.”

The Chengdu Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export said that through the event they hoped to increase trade and partnership with Sri Lanka while promoting their products.

I can assure you that the National Chamber of Commerce will give its fullest support and cooperation to the Chengdu Chamber of Commerce with whatever help needed for the industry,” said National Chamber of Commerce Senior Deputy President Asela de Livera.
