CPM Regional Management Conference 2019 to focus on ‘Management 4.0: Readiness and Strategy’

The Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka (CPM Sri Lanka), the premier professional management body in Sri Lanka, will be organising the CPM Management Conference 2019 under the topic of ‘Management 4.0: Readiness and Strategy’. Guest speakers will focus on the violent and disruptive technology which is overtaking all managers and companies, and seek strategies to cope with the changes without keeling over.

The event will take place on Wednesday 30October at The Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

The conference will therefore target management experts, scholars, practicing managers, business leaders, policy administrators and other academics from different countries of South Asia on a platform to discuss various connected issues and share their research findings. We will have participants from universities, management institutes and business schools of SAARC Countries for this conference. Eminent speakers and panellists both local and foreign will address the conference.

Management 4.0 strives for exploring what the Fourth Industrial Revolution means to the management profession. What new competencies we need to be adapting and sharing both existing and future leaders. This revolution is attributed by the fusion of technologies such as Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, 3D-printing, extended reality, autonomous robots, sensors, mobile smart devices, etc. In this context, as management competencies and best practices are vital in improving the organisational performance and quality of work by closing the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity gaps, it is paramount important to seek the meaning of readiness and strategy in Management 4.0.

This Regional Management Conference would be an another major event hosted by CPM Sri Lanka bringing credit to Sri Lanka and will have the participation of Management Professionals. As in the past, this conference will be well patronised by business leaders and top and middle level management.

The conference will be inaugurated with the welcome speech of AMDISA Past President and CPM Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, and Sukkur IBA University, Pakistan Vice Chancellor and AMDISA President-elect Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui.

Assuring the best value to the participants, two core themes will be deliberated in the technical sessions. The sessions are as follows:

Session 1: Readiness to Respond

Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva will deliver the key presentation under the theme of ‘Readiness to Respond’ followed by a panel discussion comprised of four learned panelists. The panel discussion will moderated by CPM Sri Lanka Governing Council Member Dr. Samantha Rathnayake as the session facilitator.

The panel consists of Champion Racing Driver and Founder of Dilango Racing Team Dilantha Malagamuwa, IndSearch India Director General Dr. Ashok Joshi, NMIMS University India Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajan Saxena, and Printcare Group Management Consultant (Enterprise Systems) Chaaminda Ratnayake, who will give an in-depth overview according to the theme. 

Session 2: Transformational Leadership Strategy in Management 4.0

Management and Science University Malaysia Senior Vice President (Post Graduate, Business and Social Science Cluster) Prof. Dr. Ali Khatibi will deliver the key presentation under the theme of ‘Transformational Leadership Strategy in Management 4.0’ followed by a panel discussion comprised of four learned panelists. The panel discussion will moderated by DailyFT Editor/CEO Nisthar Cassim as the session facilitator.

The panel consists of Sri Lanka Technological Campus President/CEO Ranjith Rubasinghe, IIMB India Director Prof. G. Raguram, IUBGT Bangladesh Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdur Rab, and Standard Chartered Bank Executive Director/Head FI (Sri Lanka) Lakshan Goonathilaka, who will give an in-depth overview according to the theme. 

The Conference is suitable for managing directors, directors, CEOs, COOs, senior managers, managers and executives in the field of marketing, human resources, IT, transport and logistics, stock market, tourism, telecommunication, sustainability and CSR, public and corporation sector managers, executives and management trainees.
