CMA SL Conference on ‘Financial and Cost and Management Accounting for Development of SMEs’ on 24 Jan

The Institute of Certified Management of Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA-Sri Lanka) will host the Conference on ‘Financial and Cost and Management Accounting for Development of SMEs’ on Friday 24 January at the Taj Samudra from 8.30am to 5.00pm. 

At this conference International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Dr. In-Ki Joo on his visit Sri Lanka will inaugurate the conference and deliver the Key Note Address on the theme ‘Financial and Cost and Management Accounting for Development of SMEs’ a topic of great importance for the development of the economy in Sri Lanka. The Special Guest of Honour Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs and former Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal will deliver the address on ‘The Role of Government in Promoting SME Development’ and the welcome address will be delivered by CMA Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by CMA Sri Lanka Council Member Adrian Perera, and the panellists are: People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse, Hettigoda Industries Ltd. Managing Director and National Chamber of Commerce Past Chairman Asoka Hettigoda, National Chamber of Exporters President Ramya Weerakoon, Cargills Bank Limited Managing Director and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Past Chairman Rajendra Theagarajah, CA Sri Lanka President Manil Jayasinghe, and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer S. Renganathan. 

Technical Session will have presentations on the theme ‘Importance of Finance and Costing for SMEs’ and this session will be chaired by CMA Sri Lanka Vice President H.M. Hennayake Bandara. The presentation on ‘Sources of Finance for Small Business’ will be delivered by People’s Bank AGM SME S.N.B.M.W. Narayana, ‘Working Capital and Cash Flow Management’ by Corporate Doctors Ltd. CEO/Consulting Entrepreneur Dr. Chamara Bandara, and ‘Costing and Pricing of Products and Services’ by CMA Sri Lanka Council Member Ruchira Perera.

The 2nd session will cover the ‘Need for Proper Financial and Cost Accounting and Role of Small and Medium Consultant for Success of SMEs’ and session will be chaired by CA Sri Lanka Vice President Sanjaya Bandara and the presentation on ‘Taxation and Incentives’ will delivered by Amerasekera & Co. Senior Partner K. Sivanesan, ‘Preparation and Understanding Financial Statements and Reports for SMEs’ by Moore Stephens Consulting Ltd. Joint Managing Partner Tishan Subasinghe, and ‘Role of SMPs in Providing Consultancy Services to SMEs’ by CA Sri Lanka Past President Lasantha Wickremasinghe. 

The Conference will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘Practical Experiences in Financial and Cost and Management Accounting in SMEs’ moderated by ACCA Member Network Panel Sri Lanka Chairman Suren Rajakarier. The panel members will consist of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Senior Assistant General Chandrarathna D. Vithanage, , International Chamber of Commerce and Hatton National Bank Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Tourism Industry Consultant Srilal Miththapala, Hambantota Chamber of Commerce Board Director Suresh De Mel, Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka Secretary General/CEO Ajith D. Perera, Corporate Business Solutions Ltd. Managing Director/Chief Business Architect Damith Gangodawilage, and DSI Samson Group Emeritus Chairman Dr. D.K. Rajapakse.
